Chesham's new mayor has been announced as Ridgeway Ward, Councillor Derek Lacey.

Cllr Lacey was first elected to the Town Council in 1987 and became Mayor for the first time in 1995.

During his 2011-12 term as Mayor, Cllr Lacey will be raising money for the Douglas McMinn Centre which is a community centre in the heart of Chesham that provides day care services for the elderly.

Councillor Colette Littley will be supporting the Mayor during the coming year in her role as Deputy Mayor.

As Mayor, Cllr Lacey will be delighted to receive invitations from local organisations to attend functions and fundraising events. If you would like the Mayor to be present at your event, clck here "Invite the Mayor"

At the Annual Council Meeting, tribute was paid to outgoing Mayor Councillor Jane Bramwell for her tireless work over the past year, which included fundraising not just for her Mayoral Charity, the Friends of the Endeavour Centre, but also for other organisations.

Cllr Bramwell raised £2,282.39 for the Endeavour Centre, plus £1,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and a further £5,061 raised in association with Churches Together for Chesham and Chesham Mosque for the Pakistani flood relief effort.
