A group of men posed as officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) to burgle a house in Chesham.

The burglary happened at 6.22pm on October 6, when a group of between six and seven men called at a property in Ridgeway Road, Chesham.

The men told the occupants of the house that they were from the UKBA and that they had to carry out a search of the property.

One of the men took the occupants of the house — a 46-year-old man, a 17-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy — into kitchen of the property while the other men carried out a search of the house.

After the men left, they discovered credit cards, cash, passports and a considerable amount of Asian gold had been stolen.

All the men are believed to be white and aged in their early twenties.

The man that took the occupants into the kitchen of the property and spoke to them while the other man carried out the search is described as white, aged between 20 and 25, with light brown, close-shaved hair, 5ft 6in, with a slim build.

The men were seen leaving in a black coloured car, possibly an Audi. Chiltern Area Commander Ch Insp Ian Hunter said: "I would like to reassure residents that a full and thorough investigation is now underway to find whoever is responsible for this.

"Incidents like this are very rare in this area and the local neighbourhood policing team will be in the area conducting extra patrols and supporting the investigation."

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Det Con Natalie Golding via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
